Rory's Jester Dies At Swettenham Stud

Wednesday, 28th March 2007

Swettenham Stud's Gr1 Golden Slipper-winning sire Rory's Jester (Crown Jester-Rory's Rocket, by Roan Rocket) died yesterday. Swettenham director Adam Sangster commented: "Rory's Jester was instrumental in the growth of the former Collingrove & now both Swettenham Studs. His success, each & every season, has been a major factor in my life & no doubt is the reason I ended up living here in Australia. He was the catalyst that led to the development of Collingrove (now Swettenham) in Victoria & also our Swettenham Stud property in NSW." On the track Rory's Jester recorded 7 wins (5 stakes in 3 states, including the 1985 Gr1 Golden Slipper) & 6 runner-ups from 17 starts for $504,650 earnings. He was Australian Champion 2YO for the 1984-85 season. Subsequently at stud he has sired 644 winners from 847 runners (76%) & overall his progeny have won 1,985 races (in Australia, NZ, UK, US, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, HK, Macau, Korea, Norway, Sweden & Dubai); his 76 individual stakes-winners include Gr1-winners Isca, Aragen, Racer's Edge & Chortle, while his other stars include North Boy, Catnipped, Moss Rocket, Alizes, Happy Giggle, Armidale, Light Up The World & Toast Of The Coast. In addition as a broodmare sire, daughters of Rory's Jester have produced 502 individual winners (29 stakes-winners) of 1,378 races including Gr1-winners Wahid, Jokers Wild, In Top Swing & Rockabubble, as well as In Top Swing, Jiang, Tarleton, Permaiscuous, Hinting & World Peace.
