Wednesday, 28th March 2007

Wednesday Odd Spot: Patchen Beauty (the white mare who has produced 3 white, non-albino thoroughbreds) "ended that trend when she produced a bay Skip Away colt at Patchen Wilkes Farm in Kentucky," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The colt was the 4th foal out of winning 12-year-old Hatchet Man mare Patchen Beauty. Patchen Beauty's white foals include: 5YO horse The White Fox (by Pioneering); 3YO filly Spot Of Beauty (by Skip Away); & 2YO colt Patchen Prince (by Pioneering). Skip Away (a 14-year-old Skip Trial horse) was named 1998 Horse-Of-The-Year Year & Champion Older Male in both 1997 & 1998; he won 18 of 38 starts (including the 1997 Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic & both the 1996 & 1997 Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup). Skip Away now stands at Hopewell Farm in Kentucky for US$15,000. Patchen Beauty will be bred to Devil His Due this year (who stands for US$10,000 at Margaux Farm in Kentucky).
