Hughes Buys Incumbent 50% From Williams

Sydney businessman Tim Hughes has purchased a half-share in Saturday's Gr1 Golden Slipper contender Incumbent (Choisir-Chalonne, by Rubiton) from leading Victorian owner Lloyd Williams "for an undisclosed sum," reported thoroughbredinternet.com. Hughes already "has ownership or part-ownership of 3 other Golden Slipper entrants": in Downhill Racer, Cecconi & Zizou. Incumbent (who will race in the Slipper for trainer Graeme Rogerson but subsequently transfer to Lee Freedman) was a $255,000 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne; last start the colt won the Gr2 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield) & overall has 2 wins (also including the Inglis Premier over 1200m at Caulfield on March 3) & 3 placings from 5 starts for $475,200 earnings.
