The Hong Kong Jockey Club's Veterinary Management Information System has won 1 of the 2007 CIO Awards (presented in Singapore): an honour given to the top 5 organisations across Asia that have successfully applied ground-breaking innovation in the strategic use of information technology. The VMIS is an all-in-one veterinary management system which provides surgeons with real-time, on-the-spot horse health & medical information through the use of tablet computers, wireless LAN connections & integration with X-ray, ultrasound, document imaging & inventory systems. HKJC director of information technology Sunny Lee commented: "This is a pioneering system in both the racing & medical sectors. It is believed to be the 1st of its kind in the racing industry anywhere in the world & it is the 1st in the medical care industry for either humans or animals in Hong Kong."
