Blutigeroo Wins Gr1 BMW

Multiple Gr1-winning former Newhaven Park sire Encounter (Tierce-Fancy Babe, by Sharpen Up) added a Gr1 triumph when 5YO gelding Blutigeroo (Encounter-Shanghai Sky, by Zamazaan) pushed through along the rail to score an upset 1.25-lengths victory in the $2.25 million weight-for-age Gr1 BMW (2400m) at Rosehill. Blutigeroo (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Colin Little) defeated fellow 5YO gelding Railings (Zabeel-La Suffragette, by Palace Music) & 3YO colt Gorky Park (Montjeu-Steluta, by Defensive Play). Blutigeroo (a $10,000 yearling consigned by Eliza Park at the 2003 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne) now has 11 wins (also including February's Gr3 Hobart Cup over 2200m) & 7 placings from 29 starts for $1,792,900 prize-money. His sire Encounter was champion 2YO & an 11-time-winner (including the Gr1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes, Gr1 Champagne Stakes, Gr1 Futurity Stakes, Gr1 Caulfield Guineas, Gr1 George Main Stakes & Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes, plus a nose 2nd in the Gr1 Golden Slipper) who won over $2 million & was sent in 2003 to Huajan Stud in China.
