Multiple Gr1-winning 4YO entire Elusive Fort (Fort Wood-Ever Seeking, by Secret Prospector) scored by a neck in the R600,000 (A$100,000) weight-for-age Gr1 Horse Chestnut Stakes (1600m) at Turffontein. Favoured Elusive Fort (also ridden by Mark Khan for trainer Geoff Woodruff) defeated fast-finishing Biarritz (Count Dubois-Corlia's Bid, by Polish Patriot) & 3YO Emperor Napoleon (Kahal-Ellinore, by Northern Guest). Wilgerbosdrift Stud-bred Elusive Fort also won 2006's Gr1 Daily News 2200 (2200m) at Greyville & Gr1 South African Derby (2450m) at Turffontein, plus finished runner-up in the Gr1 South African Classic (1800m) at Turffontein.
