Kentucky Drug Research Stable Put On Hold

Thursday, 5th April 2007

"A proposed 20-horse drug research stable will not receive funding from the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority until the regulatory agency finds a medical director to monitor the project," noted thoroughbredtimes.com. According to the report, 4 candidates have already been interviewed and the intention is to fill the role within two months. "Until somebody is actually appointed there won't be a commitment to the 20 horse barn. The US$1 million, 20-horse research barn will allow for rigorous testing of equine medications and their withdrawal periods under racetrack conditions. If approved, the research council will fund the test stable jointly with the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium."
