UK Breeze-Up Day-1: Record Price For Danzig Colt
Doncaster Bloodstock Sales' Breeze-Up Sale, which had the 1st of its two days of selling in England overnight, has already seen the existing record price swept away. According to racingpost.co.uk, "a member of Danzig's final crop shattered Doncaster's Breeze-Up Sale record when selling for 245,000gns (A$620,000) to agent John O'Byrne, acting for clients of Jeremy Noseda". The colt (Danzig-Vantive, by Mr Prospector) had previously been purchased for US$180,000 at Keeneland's September Yearling Sale. He is a full-brother to Listed Sandown (UK) winner Wasseema, and O'Byrne noted: "He's been bought for a consortium of owners and will go to Jeremy Noseda. Danzig doesn't make them any more and I thought he was a really lovely horse - hopefully he's ready to go on with and we'll be seeing him at Ascot in June." The new record easily surpassed the 150,000gns (A$380,000) a Sadlers Wells filly brought two years ago at this sale.
