Bentley Biscuit Wins Gr1 T J Smith Stakes

Former Coolmore shuttler Peintre Celebre (Nureyev-Peinture Bleue, by Alydar) added a Group success when 5YO gelding Bentley Biscuit (Peintre Celebre-Tycoon Joy, by Last Tycoon) won the $700,000 Gr1 T J Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick after rattling down the outside. Bentley Biscuit (ridden by Nash Rawiller for trainer Gai Waterhouse) scored by 1.25 lengths from 6YO gelding Black Ink (Snippets-Empress Regina, by Luskin Star) with a further 3/4 of a length to 4YO mare Virage De Fortune (Anabaa-Virage, by Kenmare). Bentley Biscuit (a $120,000 yearling consigned by Edinglassie Stud at the 2003 Inglis Easter Sale) now has 10 wins (also including the Gr3 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick & 2 placings (including the Gr1 Doncaster Handicap over 1600m & the Gr3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap over 1400m at Broadmeadow last year) from 16 starts for $945,325 earnings. Bentley Biscuit's Giant's Causeway half-brother sells on Thursday at the Inglis Easter Sale.
