Coolmore Australia Announces 3 New Sons Of Danehill
Coolmore Australia has announced that their Hunter Valley property will be home in 2007 to 3 new sons of former champion sire Danehill (Danzig-Razyana, by His Majesty). The trio is Holy Roman Empire (Danehill-L'Onvite, by Secretariat), Aussie Rules (Danehill-Last Second, by Alzao) & Ivan Denisovich (Danehill-Hollywood Wildcat, by Kris S). Holy Roman Emperor was a dual Gr1-winning 2YO, and in February of this year he was still second favourite for the Gr1 2,000 Guineas, however was retired to stud at short notice in order to facilitate the clients with mares booked to another Danehill sire-son George Washington who was experiencing fertility problems. With both Coolmore's Encosta de Lago and Arrowfield Stud's Flying Spur (Australia's current leading stallion) appearing under his second dam, Holy Roman Emperor will attract a great deal of interest from breeders. Dual Gr1 winner Aussie Rules is out of the talented racemare Last Second who landed the Nassau Stakes and Sun Chariot Stakes (both now Gr1 events) as a 3YO, and is a half-sister to the dams of four Gr1 winners including dual Champion Stakes winner Alborada and Gr1 Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Yesterday. A Group winner at Newmarket as a juvenile, Aussie Rules captured both the Gr1 French 2,000 Guineas and the Gr1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland. Out of Gr1 Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Hollywood Wildcat and a half-brother to Gr1 Breeders' Cup Mile winner War Chant, as a 2YO Ivan Denisovich won the Gr2 July Stakes before running second in the Gr1 Prix Morny in France. As a 3-year-old he won the Solonaway Stakes in Ireland and was placed at Gr1 level on each of his 3 trips to the US.
