Danleigh Wins Gr3 South Pacific Classic

Tuesday, 10th April 2007

Eliza Park's shuttler Mujahid (Danzig-Elrafa Ah, by Storm Cat) celebrated a Group winner in the opening Group race on Doncaster Day when 3YO gelding Danleigh (Mujahid-Graceful Lily, by Dr. Grace) captured the $120,000 Gr3 South Pacific Classic (1400m) for 3YOs at Randwick yesterday. Ridden by Kathy O'Hara for trainer Bob Thomsen, Danleigh outgunned favoured colt Reigning To Win (King Of Kings-Secret Liaisons, by T.V. Heart Throb) who looked in need of the run by 1.5 lengths, with a further length back to fellow gelding Something Anything (Magic Albert-Maline, by Kala Dancer). Danleigh now has 3 wins (including the Gr2 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm) and 6 placings (also including a narrow 2nd in last month's Gr2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill and a Gr1 runner-up behind Reigning To Win in the Gr1 TJ Smith Quality at Eagle Farm) from 14 starts for $418,495 earnings.
