Haradasun Wins Gr1 Doncaster Handicap

Tuesday, 10th April 2007

Coolmore shuttler Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr Prospector-Angel Fever, by Danzig) celebrated a major Gr1 race victory when boom 3YO colt Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus-Circles Of Gold, by Marscay) made it two consecutive Gr1 Sydney wins from two rides by Glen Boss, who rode a tactically brilliant race in the $2.26 million Gr1 Emirates Doncaster Handicap (1600m) for trainer Tony Vasil. Technically poorly drawn in barrier one due to his usual sit and swoop style, Boss booted Haradasun out of the gates and was soon box-seating as Apache Cat and Mentality matched strides up front. Turning for home the half-brother to Gr1 winner and exciting Blue Gum Farm sire Elvstroem was balanced up by Boss and started to make his charge. At the post there was only a short-neck separating Haradasun from an extremely game Mentality (Flying Spur- Synaesthesia, by Quiet American) and a further long-neck to last-start Gr1-winning 4YO mare Divine Madonna (Hurricane Sky-My Madonna, by Prego) who showed blistering acceleration from a long way back in the field to finish third. Home-bred Haradasun now has 6 wins and 2 placings from 9 starts for earnings of $1,889,350.
