Nobiz Like Showbiz Wins US Gr1 Wood Memorial

Tuesday, 10th April 2007

On the US east coast, and, according to thoroughbredtimes.com, wearing blinkers for the 1st time and racing with cotton wool in his ears, 3YO colt Nobiz Like Shobiz (Albert The Great-Nightstorm, by Storm Cat) rallied to a half-length victory in the US$750,000 Gr1 Wood Memorial Stakes (9 furlongs) for 3YOs at Aqueduct in New York. "I think he was more focused today," his trainer Barclay Tagg said. "We had five weeks to work with him [since the Fountain of Youth]. All of his works were good. He did everything properly. Today, he showed up." Ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, the short-priced Nobiz Like Showbiz won from fellow 3YO colts Sightseeing (Pulpit-Resort, by Pleasant Colony) and Any Given Saturday (Distorted Humour-Weekend In Indy, by A P Indy).
