Bentley Biscuit Wins Gr1 All Aged Stakes

Monday, 16th April 2007

Coolmore Stud's former shuttler Peintre Celebre (Peintre Celebre-Tycoon Joy, by Last Tycoon) had his 2nd Gr1 winner in a week when strongly fancied 5YO gelding Bentley Biscuit (Peintre Celebre-Tycoon Joy, by Last Tycoon) won the $400,000 Gr1 AJC All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick. Needing an out halfway up the straight after being pocketed, the long striding gelding had the field covered quickly once he saw daylight. In an exact replica of their Gr1 AJC TJ Smith Stakes a week ago, Bentley Biscuit (ridden by Nash Rawiller for trainer Gai Waterhouse who had 3 Gr1 winners on the card) scored by 1.25 lengths from 6YO gelding Black Ink (Snippets-Empress Regina, by Luskin Star). The margin for 3rd was a length to fellow 5YO gelding Malcolm (Snippets-Finneto, by Cerreto). Bentley Biscuit (a $120,000 yearling consigned by Edinglassie Stud at the 2003 Inglis Easter Sale) now has 11 wins (also including the Gr3 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick & 2 placings (including the Gr1 Doncaster Handicap over 1600m & the Gr3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap over 1400m at Broadmeadow last year) from 17 starts for $1,187,425 earnings.
