Inglis Weanling Sale 1: Strong Start Yesterday

Monday, 16th April 2007

A strong start was made yesterday to the 6 day Inglis Select Weanling & Broodmare Sale at Newmarket in Sydney. Following the record-breaking Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, 169 weanlings were sold yesterday for a gross of $3,899,350 at an average of $23,073. William Inglis Acting managing director Jamie Inglis said the Select Weanling Sale had really come into its own: "This sale presents buyers with the opportunity to purchase quality, well-pedigreed thoroughbreds at a much cheaper price than they'll have to pay at a major auction some 12 months on". Good examples of previous Inglis Select weanlings from 2003 are Perfectly Ready (Gr1 Goodwood Handicap winner), Danzippo (Group winner), More Than Lucky (Listed winner and Gr2 placed), Why Be (winner of 18 races and over $A1.1 million in Singapore) and Sushisan (twice Gr1 placed in South Africa and recent 5th in the Dubai Sheema Classic).
