Vinery To Stand Gr1 2YO Winner Excites

Tuesday, 17th April 2007

Meanwhile, Vinery has cause for its own celebrations with the announcement the famed Hunter Valley property will have its 2007 stallion roster considerably bolstered by the acquisition of boom Gr1-winning juvenile Excites (Danewin-Staging, by Success Express (USA). Excites retired after just 10 starts and injury in the Gr3 The Debonair cut short his career, but not before earning $527,960 in stakes from his previous starts which included his all-important Gr1 AJC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) win as a 2YO. He went on to run 2nd in the great sire-making 3YO classic, the Gr1 MRC Caulfield Guineas (1600m), franking his form. His breeder and owner Peter Moran (who will support Excites with his own significant broodmare band) has sold (as he did with his previous Gr 1 winner Mossman) a major shareholding in Excites to Vinery, whose general manager Peter Orton observed: "When you look at him, he is simply a magnificent animal and any Gr1-winning juvenile is going to have enormous appeal in this market. He had an absolutely electric turn of foot when let down, and his pedigree is first class. He's 16.1 hands high and we are very excited to have bought into Excites and to have him on the farm as he is the type of stallion that should suit broodmare owners." Excites will be partly syndicated to farm clients and will commence his duties this year at the GST inclusive fee of $13,750.
