Keeneland April 2YO Sale: $1.75m Filly Record

Wednesday, 18th April 2007

Leviathan American owner B. Wayne Hughes set a new record for a filly when going to US$1.75 million to secure a filly by Mineshaft at Keeneland's April Selected 2YOs-In-Training Sale yesterday. According to thoroughbredtimes.com, "the previous record for a filly at the April sale was US$1.25 million for Lochlin Slew, whom Hughes purchased in 1999." The record-priced filly is a daughter of Gr1-placed Stylish Talent (Forty Niner), and had previously been pinhooked by major consignors Randy Hartley and Dean De Renzo who "paid US$400,000 for her at the Keeneland September yearling sale."
