New Horizons At Wolverhampton

Thursday, 19th April 2007

Thursday-odd-spot: It would appear that gone forever are the days when heading to the track for a bet and a bite to eat meant fifty bucks in your kick, and enough loose change for a green pea pie, tomato sauce & scalding coffee. In news from England, "Personalities from the world of sport and TV will brush shoulders with regular race goers and diners on Saturday evening as the covers come off the new panoramic viewing, 370-seater, £600,000, ''Horizons Restaurant'' at Wolverhampton Racecourse. Formerly known by the interesting moniker The Zongalero, the restaurant closed back in February for extensive refurbishment and is now unrecognisable to those race goers who regularly frequent the all-weather, floodlit race track. A life-sized horse sculpture, made entirely of ice, will meet diners at Saturday's official launch party as they enter the creative and contemporary designed restaurant with its cream and brown plush furnishings. Finished in chrome, maple and walnut and boasting the latest in LCD screen technology, state of the art dance floor, pre-dining lounge areas and air conditioning, the restaurant now offers a tasteful ambience to enjoy the Sport of Kings.
