US 2008 Breeders' Cup Meeting To Santa Anita
The prestigious US Breeders' Cup World Championship meeting has been awarded to California's Santa Anita Park for the 2008 running in October next year. According to bloodhorse.com, "Santa Anita will be the first Breeders' Cup site to hold the main track portion of the program on a synthetic surface. The Arcadia track is scheduled to install an all-weather surface, which replaces its dirt track, this summer. It is expected to be in use for the 2007 Oak Tree meeting, which begins in September." So far, no decision has been made on which company will install the synthetic surface, however the 3 key players thought to be under consideration are Pro-Ride, Polytrack and Cushion Track. The last time the Breeders' Cup was staged at Santa Anita was in 2003, and prior to that in 1993 and 1986.
