Crown's Master Wins Gr3 Hong Kong Macau Trophy

Monday, 23rd April 2007

Leading Australian-bred Macau 5YO gelding Crown's Master (Last Tycoon-Ranghiroah, by Woodman) added another Group race to his growing tally in 2007 when landing the HK$2.3 million (A$350,000) Gr3 Hong Kong Macau Trophy (1400m) at Sha Tin in Hong Kong yesterday. Already the winner this year of the HK$850,000 (A$140,000) Gr1 Chairman's Challenge Cup (1200m) in February and the HK$2.3 million (A$380,000) Gr1 Macau-Hong Kong Trophy (1500m) for 4YOs & up at Taipa earlier this month, Crown's Master was ridden by Stanley Chin for trainer Joe Lau, and defeated Irish-bred Tiber (Titus Livius-Exciting, by Mill Reef) by three-quarters of a length, with a further 1.25 lengths to NZ-bred Gold Striker (Faltaat-Lady Centaine, by Centaine). Originally a $35,000 yearling at the 2003 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale, Crown's Master was subsequently re-sold later that year as a 2YO for NZ$70,000 at the 2003 NZ Bloodstock 2YO Ready-To-Run Sale at Karaka. He has now won 11 of his 17 starts.
