Doncaster Record Breaker Returned To Vendor
Meanwhile, in further European bloodstock news, Doncaster's record-breaking breeze-up colt which sold for 245,000 guineas (A$620,000) has been returned to his vendor, according to racingpost.co.uk. Vendor "Valentine Feerick, chief executive of headhunters GCG and who operates under the Ruthyn Bloodstock banner, has now sent the colt, bought for $180,000 at Keeneland last September, to (trainer) Mark Johnston." Despite a number of attempts to contact Feerick by the publication, it was left to Doncaster's CEO Henry Beeby to attempt to explain what had transpired: "When the horse breezed, he picked up the smallest little nick - cut, as it were - and Mr Feerick decided that he would stand over the horse because there was some concern expressed (by the buyer). The horse has now gone to Mark Johnston and Mr Feerick would say that he is very confident the horse will race with great distinction and is looking forward to racing him in his colours."
