Arrowfield Stud stallion & current Australian General Sires Premiership leader Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr. Prospector) celebrated further stakes success when highly consistent 6YO gelding Tornado Alley (Flying Spur-Singing Angel, by Rahy) captured the $60,000 Listed QTC Dr John Power Handicap (1200m) for 3YOs & up at Eagle Farm. Ridden by Bob El-Issa for trainer Maryann Thexton, Tornado Alley was 1.75 lengths clear of 5YO entire Daunting Lad (Latarmiss-New Day Dawning, by Standaan) & 4YO entire Denmarket (Lord Dane-Business Babe, by Blethcingly) - beaten a further 1.25 lengths. Tornado Alley was a NZ$15,000 2YO at the 2002 NZB Horses In Training Sale at Karaka where he was bought by Thexton. The win took his record to 11 wins & 8 placings from 34 starts, and earnings of $393,250.
