De Kock Ready For English 2,000 Guineas Tilt
Meanwhile one of South Africa's other major trainers, Mike De Kock (who has already tasted international success on a number of occasions) is primed to tackle the prestigious Gr1 2,000 Guineas this English Summer, reports racingpost.co.uk. De Kock intends saddling up 3YO Drayton (by ill-fated former Western Australia-based Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Danetime (Danehill-Allegheny River, by Lear Fan)) in the rich 3YO Classic at Newmarket. Drayton, who last start finished 4th at Nad Al Sheba to Great Britain, "will be housed at Geoff Wragg's Abington Place Stables under the guidance of de Kock's assistant Stephen Jell." It is believed that De Kock, who will divide his time between South Africa and England (a 9 hour journey), is also bringing a larger complement to his raiding party in early May. In October 2005 De Kock broke new ground when taking on the crème of Australia's weight-for-age stars in the Gr1 WS Cox Plate with the Bridget Oppenheimer-owned South African galloper Greys Inn.
