Shinko King Relocates To Paxton Park

Tuesday, 24th April 2007

In other relocation news, with New Zealand's Ashwell Farm getting out of the stallion business, Fairy King sire-son Shinko King will stand the 2007 stud season at Paxton Park. The newly acquired Cambridge-based property is operated by champion stud bull breeder Henk Smit, who is hoping he can apply many of the same genetic principles from dairy farming into breeding top racehorses. Originally from Holland, Smit has become a new player in the Waikato thoroughbred breeding industry after recently purchasing the picturesque 40ha Cambridge property developed by world-renowned horseman Mark Todd, who carried out some major improvements during his time at the Kaipaki Rd property. He implemented a 1000m uphill gallop track, 800m training track, stables and horse walker, as well as fully fenced paddocks. Bred in Ireland, Shinko King is a half brother to Gr1 English Derby winner Dr Devious. Gr1 Japanese winner Shinko King's successful stakes progeny include Bramble Rose, Madame Shinko, Shinko Bay, Viz Vitae, Fairy Tale, and Eternal Melody.
