Mirandola Wins Listed NZ Bloodstock Fillies Stakes

Thursday, 26th April 2007

Waikato Stud stallion O'Reilly (Last Tycoon-Courtza, by Pompeii Court) celebrated an ANZAC Day stakes success at Auckland's Avondale racecourse when Australian-bred filly Mirandola (O'Reilly-Paolini, by House Buster) won the NZB Fillies Stakes (1200m) for 2YO fillies. Fittingly bred and owned by the Vela family (proprietors of NZB & Pencarrow Stud), Mirandola (ridden by apprentice Samantha Spratt for trainer Richard Yuill) had a half-head & a nose, respectively, to spare over favourite & debut runner Diamond Deck (Octagonal-Miss Trump, by last Tycoon) and Capistrano Angel (Kashani-Almost An Angel, by Creese). Mirandola now has 2 wins & 2 placings from just 4 starts.
