Stoney Bridge 2: Stormy Creek Lifetime Rights

Thursday, 26th April 2007

Meanwhile Stoney Bridge principal Michael Tololi, who recently completed the purchase of the Duchess of Bedford's Bloomsbury Stud, has acquired the lifetime Southern Hemisphere breeding rights to proven Gr1-producing shuttle sire Storm Creek (Storm Cat-Shawnee Creek, by Mr. Prospector). Storm Creek made an impressive yearling debut in 2007 with his Select Sale entries selling for an average price of NZ$61,071 with a median price of NZ$60,000, more than 9 times his current service fee of NZ$6,500. "Following on from the excellent response at the sales to his 1st crop and the favourable reports coming to us from the breakers regarding his progeny, we felt it was prudent to secure permanent access to the horse in anticipation of a strong First Crop Sire performance next season" declared Mike Tololi. Stoney Bridge will also add an 8th stallion to their roster this year. This brand new stallion, a Graded stakes winner in the US, and by a world class sire, has been purchased outright and full details will be announced shortly. Tololi praised the tax changes implemented in New Zealand saying: "We believe that this is a good time to be investing in the industry with the tax changes now showing a positive effect in the markets as evidenced by the strength of this year's select sale. Our Stoney Bridge Plan of 50% of the fee payable once the mare is in foal and 50% due when the foal is born should enable breeders who have left their mares empty for the past year or two to ease their way back into the industry."
