Choisir Fancied In Both Hemispheres

Friday, 27th April 2007

One of the anomalies of the breeding world is that a successful sire in one hemisphere is no guarantee to achieve likewise in the other hemisphere. There are exceptions, of course, former champion Danehill being top of mind. In what Coolmore Stud and the supporters of its exciting young stallion Choisir (Danehill Dancer-Great Selection, by Lunchtime) in both hemispheres will see as a big boost, many bookmakers in Europe have priced the former Paul Perry-trained globetrotting Gr1 winner as favourite to win their 1st Season Sires Premiership. In Australia, Choisir is priced just a fraction behind his Coolmore Stud stable mate Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill-Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest). At the Magic Millions National Sale starting on May 30, there are 9 Choisir weanlings & 6 Choisir yearlings catalogued, and those buyers willing to take a longer term view will find 11 mares for sale that have been served by him.
