Dylan Thomas Sends Rivals Scurrying For Cover

Friday, 27th April 2007

In Europe, the declaration of crack Aidan O'Brien-trained 4YO entire Dylan Thomas (Danehill-Lagrion, by Dieses) last Wednesday for this Sunday's Gr1 Prix Ganay at Longchamp appears to have prompted a change of mind for the connections of some runners that were to have tackled the French feature, but will now head to Sandown in England today instead. According to bloodhorse.com, "Lambourn-trained runners Mashaahed and Red Rocks were declared for the Ganay, but also appeared in a final field of 6 for the Betfred Gordon Richards Stakes (Sandown), as did Ganay possible Notnowcato, winner of the Juddmonte International last season." In what is the 1st European Gr1 event of the season, Dylan Thomas (who defeated Champion Ouija Board in the Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes last year) is strongly fancied to take the next step up after a facile win in a Curragh Listed event less than 2 weeks ago when returning from a spell which followed his US Breeders' Cup sojourn.
