South Africa Secures Breeders' Cup Winner For Stud
In bullish news for South African breeders just a week out from the Emperor's Palace National Yearling Sales (May 4-7), sahorseracing.com reports: "Eclipse winner and Florida-Bred Horse of the Year Miesque's Approval has been sold to Kwazulu Natal Breeders Club & Scott Bros Stud from South Africa in a deal negotiated by agent Robin Bruss". Scott Bros have been among the doyens of the breeding scene in South Africa for decades, and the acquisition of Miesque's Approval "the 1st Eclipse Award winner to retire directly to stud in South Africa as well as the highest stake earner" is a real coup for the country. His 12 victories, which included the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Mile, earned his connections US$2,648,879 and the Eclipse Award as Champion Turf Male. Miesque's Approval (Miesque's Son-Win Approval, by In Approval) will stand for R50,000 (A$8,500) at the Scott's Highdown Stud.
