Peintre Celebre Debut Shuttle To Argentina
In South America, former Coolmore shuttler Peintre Celebre (Nureyev-Peinture Bleue, by Alydar) "will travel to Argentina for his 1st southern-hemisphere breeding season" this year, reported racingpost.co.uk. Peintre Celebre (bred by Daniel Wildenstein's Allez France Stables) won 1997's Gr1 Prix du Jockey-Club, Gr1 Grand Prix de Paris & Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Peintre Celebre entered stud at Coolmore Ireland in 1999 & subsequently shuttled to Australia from 1998-2003 (where he sired 318 live foals); he also spent the 2001 northern hemisphere season at East Stud in Japan. He covered 93 mares in Ireland in 2006 & his 2007 fee is €25,000 (A$40,000) "while his most recent crop of yearlings brought an average 53,613 guineas (A$140,000) for 29 sold". His top performers include French-bred Pride (winner of Gr1s at Saint-Cloud, Newmarket & Sha Tin last year); Gr1 Deutsches Derby winner Dai Jin; Gr1 Hong Kong Vase winner Vallee Enchantee; Gr1 Santa Anita Derby victor Castledale; & this year's dual Australian Gr1 winner Bentley Biscuit.
