Sarajay Wins NZ Travis Stakes

Monday, 30th April 2007

In New Zealand, Baerami Thoroughbreds stallion Danasinga (Danehill-Princess Tracy, by Ahonoora) added a group success when 6YO mare Sarajay (Danasinga-Sriwijaya, by Last Tycoon) scored a 3-lengths victory in the NZ$120,000 Gr2 Travis Stakes (2000m) for fillies & mares at Te Rapa. Sarajay (ridden by Noel Harris for trainer John Sargent) defeated fast-finishing fellow 6YO mare Lilakyn (Danehill-Popsy, by Sir Tristram) & 4YO mare Vercors (Catbird-Alpine, by Zabeel). Sarajay (a NZ$90,000 yearling at the 2002 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka) took her record to 8 wins & 8 placings (including the Gr1 NZB Breeders' Stakes over 1600m on April 7, last month's Gr2 Japan-NZ International Trophy over 1600m & 2006's Listed Fairdale Stud Flying Handicap over 1400m) from 34 starts.
