Maslins Beach Wins Sunshine Coast Guineas

Monday, 2nd July 2007

In the $100,000 Listed Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) for 3YOs, Arrowfield Stud's current General Sires Table runaway leader Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) celebrated another black type winner when exciting sophomore filly Maslins Beach (Flying Spur-New Acquaintance, by King's Island) won by 2-lengths. Ridden by Corey Brown for Randwick trainer Anthony Cummings, Maslins Beach defeated fellow fillies Sequential Charm (Sequalo-Laudham Charm, by Laudham Star) & Danehill Princess (Danehill-Gypsy Princess, by Sadlers Wells), who was a half-neck behind the runner-up. The connections of Danehill Princess lodged a protest with Stewards against the winner, which was dismissed. Maslins Beach, an $80,000 yearling consigned by Vinery Stud as agent at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale, now has 3 wins & 4 placings (including a close-up 4th in the Gr2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm) from 10 starts for earnings of $133,850. The victory by Maslin's Beach took Flying Spur's 2006/07 progeny earnings beyond the $10 million mark.
