Simply Perfect Wins UK Gr1 Falmouth Stakes

Thursday, 12th July 2007

Also in the UK overnight, former Coolmore shuttler & ill-fated multiple champion sire Danehill (Danzig-Razyana, by His Majesty) added a Gr1 triumph when 3YO daughter Simply Perfect (Danehill-Hotelgenie Dot Com, by Selkirk) led all-the-way to score a 1-length victory over her older rivals in the £200,000 (A$480,000) Gr1 Falmouth Stakes (8 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Newmarket. Simply Perfect (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer Jeremy Noseda) defeated Team Valor's Gr1-winning South African-bred 6YO mare Irridescence (Caesour-Meretricious, by Dancing Champ) & US-bred fellow 3YO filly Arch Swing (Arch-Gold Pattern, by Slew O' Gold). Simply Perfect was a 220,000 guineas (A$572,000) yearling at the UK Tattersalls October Sale & last season won both the UK Gr1 Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile Stakes (8 furlongs) at Ascot & UK Gr2 May Hill Stakes (8 furlongs) at York, as well as finishing runner-up in the UK Gr3 Queen Mary Stakes (5 furlongs) at Royal Ascot. This year she finished 3rd in the UK Gr1 1000 Guineas (1600m) at Newmarket on May 6.
