Munce Bid For HK-Aust Jail Swap

Tuesday, 17th July 2007

Jailed Australian jockey Chris Munce "could serve the rest of his sentence in NSW if a prisoner swap with Hong Kong is approved," reported The Daily Telegraph. The newspaper revealed NSW Justice Minister John Hatzistergos has given "in principle" support for the plan to investigate if Munce can return from HK & "sent on the application" to Federal Justice Minister David Johnson (the person who needs to propose any exchange deal from Australia's end). Munce has been in jail in HK since March (after being sentenced to 30 months for his part in a tips-for-bets scam).
