Lucky Secret Wins Monash Stakes

Monday, 23rd July 2007

Blue Gum Farm's ill-fated sire & 4-time Gr1-winning former champion racehorse Rubiton (Century-Ruby, by Seventh Hussar) added a black-type success (& 34th individual stakes-winner) when undefeated 3YO gelding Lucky Secret (Rubiton-Won't Tell, by Rory's Jester) made it 7 successive wins with a 1-length victory over his older rivals in the $100,000 weight-for-age Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. Favourite Lucky Secret (ridden by Danny Brereton for trainer Tony Vasil) defeated 6YO gelding Live In Vain (Kenvain-Piglet's Gold, by Gold Carat) & 5YO entire Honalee (Hurricane Sky-Villa Rondini, by Alzao). Lucky Secret (a $220,000 yearling consigned by Attunga Stud at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) has now earned $232,100 but tragically returned to scale bleeding from both nostrils (which incurs an automatic 3-months ban. Lucky Secret's connections previously indicated a November-December trip to Hong Kong was being considered.
