Monday, 3rd September 2007

Dr Christoph Berglar paid €280,000 (A$448,000) for a filly by Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas-winning 1st-crop sire Bachelor Duke (out of Gr3-winning Tap On Wood mare Sedulous) consigned from Union-Gestut. The filly "was a 90,000 guineas (A$234,000) pin-hook from the UK Tattersalls December foal sale," noted racingpost.co.uk. The filly is a half-sister to the dam of US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf winner Shirocco. Her sire Bachelor Duke stands at Ireland's Ballylinch Stud & shuttles to NZ's The Oaks Stud where he is standing this season for NZ$7,000+GST.
