Blahnik Wins Wylie Handicap

Monday, 3rd September 2007

Lindsay Park's ill-fated stallion & 1994 Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Jeune (Kalaglow-Youthful, by Green Dancer) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Blahnik (Jeune-Gift Bouquet, by King's High) returned from a 47-weeks spell to score a 1.25-lengths victory in the $50,000 Listed W.H.Wylie Handicap (1100m) at Morphettville. Blahnik (ridden by Dominic Tourneur for trainer Jon O'Connor) defeated 4YO mare Vormista (Testa Rossa-Truly, by Bellotto) & fellow 5YO gelding Amyjaye Power (Centre Stalls-Amyjaye Star, by Bureaucracy). Blahnik (a $28,000 yearling at the 2004 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale) now has 4 wins (also including 2006's Gr3 Adelaide Guineas over 1600m at Morphettville) & 2 runner-ups from 12 starts for $176,900 prize-money.
