Monday, 3rd September 2007

Deceased Eureka Stud stallion Semipalatinsk (Nodouble-School Board, by Reverse) added a black-type success when Gr1-winning 5YO gelding Ice Chariot (Semipalatinsk-Snow Chariot, by Chariot) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed D'Urban Quality Stakes (1700m) at Caulfield. Top-weighted Ice Chariot (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Ron Maund) scored by a half-head from fellow 5YO gelding The Fuzz (Danasinga-Drama Queen, by Prince Of Praise) with a further short-head to 6YO gelding Cefalu (Dushyantor-Cristal, by Semenenko). Ice Chariot (a $37,500 yearling at the Brisbane Bonus Sale) now has 9 wins (also including June's Gr3 Tattersall's Cup over 2200m at Eagle Farm & July's Gr3 Queen's Cup over 3200m at Eagle Farm, as well as 2006's Gr1 Queensland Derby over 2400m at Eagle Farm & Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes over 2100m) & 2 placings (in June's Gr2 Brisbane Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm & 2006's Gr3 Doomben Classic over 1615m) from 25 starts for $1,026,100 earnings.
