Royal Asscher Wins Arrow Plate

Monday, 3rd September 2007

NZ Cambridge Stud's Coolmore shuttler Stravinsky (Nureyev-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom) added a black-type success when daughter Royal Asscher (Stravinsky-Diamond Cashel, by Sir Tristram) came from last to score a 1.25-lengths victory in the $100,000 Listed Arrow Training Services Plate (1200m) for 3YO fillies at Caulfield. Despite starting from extreme outside barrier 13 & coming 5-wide on the turn, Royal Asscher (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Lee Freedman) defeated Gladwell (Anabaa-Excitant, by Rory's Jester) & Antarctic Miss (Ustinov-Far South, by Stark South). Royal Asscher (a $475,000 yearling at the 2006 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 3 wins (also including 2006's Listed Jayco Sprint over 1000m at Flemington) & 4 placings (including January's $1 million Magic Millions Classic over 1200m at the Gold Coast & 2006's Listed Arrow Training Services Stakes over 1000m at Moonee Valley) from 9 starts for $267,900 earnings.
