Scenic Blast Wins McNeil Stakes

Monday, 3rd September 2007

Ill-fated former Durham Lodge stallion Scenic (Sadler's Wells-Idyllic, by Foolish Pleasure) added a group success when gelded son Scenic Blast (Scenic-Daughter's Charm, by Delgado) scored a 0.75-lengths victory in the $125,000 Gr3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) for 3YOs at Caulfield. Scenic Blast (ridden by Jason Brown for trainer Danny Morton) defeated fellow gelding Pins On Parade (Pins-Burwood Road, by O'Reilly) & the colt Marching (Commands-Step, by Grand Lodge). Scenic Blast (an $85,000 yearling at the 2006 Magic Millions Perth Premier Sale) now has 3 wins (also including February's Listed Supremacy Stakes over 1100m at Ascot) & 2 runner-ups (in March's Listed Perth Stakes over 1100m at Ascot & a fortnight later the Gr2 Karrakatta Plate over 1200m at Ascot) from 5 starts for $256,300 earnings.
