Compasivo Cat Wins Argentina Gr1 Suipacha

Tuesday, 4th September 2007

In Argentina, 3YO colt Compasivo Cat (Easing Along-La Tosquera, by Tempranero) "returned from a lay-off of more than 6 months to defeat older horses in one of that nation's premier races for sprinters, the Gr1 Gran Premio Suipacha (1000m on turf) at San Isidro," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Despite being the only 3YO in the 9-horse field & making his 1st start on grass, Compasivo Cat (ridden by Gustavo Calvente for trainer Roberto Pellegata) scored by 0.75-lengths from Southern Lawyer (Southern Halo-Sweet And Lovely, by Rampart Road) & Maaleh (El Compinche-My Palestina, by Fitzcarraldo) to become the 1st 3YO to win the race in 15 years. Compasivo Cat (in his 1st start since winning Argentina's Gr3 Clasico Guillermo Kemmis at Palermo on February 17 as a 2YO) now has 3 wins from 4 starts.
