Matto Mondo Wins Chile Gr1 Potrillos

Tuesday, 4th September 2007

Also in Chile, "solid favorite & top-rated juvenile colt on turf Matto Mondo (Sir Cat-Muy Euforica, by Sadler's Congress) began his 3YO season on a high note with a convincing 4.25-lengths victory" in the Gr1 Clasico Polla de Potrillos (1700m on turf) for 3YO colts at Club Hipico (also the 1st leg of the Club Hipico de Santiago Quadruple Crown series), reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Front-running Matto Mondo (ridden by Gonzalo Ulloa for trainer Jose Tomas Allende) defeated Panguilemo (Until Sundown-Santa Rita, by Worldwatch) & Funny Joke (Indygo Shiner-Juglara, by Southern Halo). At his previous start, Matto Mondo (a 2-time group stakes-winner as a juvenile) blitzed his rivals by an astonishing 16-lengths on grass in Chile's Gr1 Clasico Alberto Vial Infante at Club Hipico de Santiago (1600m) on June 22 to follow an equally impressive 8.25-lengths romp in Chile's Gr3 Clasico Alvaro Covarrubias on June 1; overall he now has 4 wins from 5 starts.
