Tuesday, 4th September 2007

Also in the US, NZ-bred racemare Black Mamba (Black Minnaloushe-Sneetch, by Grosvenor) followed-up last month's winning American debut (over 1600m at Del Mar in California) with an impressive runner-up effort (beaten just 0.75-lengths "after rallying 3-deep in the stretch") behind front-running favourite & Gr1-winning millionaire 4YO mare Precious Kitten (Catienus-Kitten's First, by Lear Fan) in the US$250,000 Gr2 Palomar Breeders' Cup Handicap (8.5 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Del Mar, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Black Mamba (bred by Keltern Stud) was a NZ$120,000 yearling consigned by Trelawney Stud at the 2005 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka. Black Mamba (previously trained in NZ by Murray Baker) last raced in NZ when she finished 5th in the Gr1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) on March 17; she is now in the US stable of John Sadler.
