Tuesday, 4th September 2007

In South America, favourite Zhou (Lord Florey-Neige, by Hussonet) "inched closer to clinching Hipodromo Chile's Triple Crown after a 1-length victory in the Gr1 Clasico Mil Guineas (1600m) that reaffirmed her status as Chile's top 3YO filly on the dirt," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Zhou (ridden by Gonzalo Ulloa for trainer Daniel Contreras) defeated fast-finishing Weekend Trip (Seeker's Reward-Weekend Leave, by Polish Navy) & Mayfair (Salt Lake-Majorette, by Merce Cunningham). Zhou also won Chile's Gr1 Premio Tanteo De Potrancas (1500m) at Santiago's Hipodromo Chile in June & will completer the Triple Crown if she can win Gr1 Clasico Alberto Solari Magnasco in November; overall she currently has 4 wins from 7 starts (plus a last start runner-up in the Gr2 Gran Premio Criadores-Salvador Hess Riveros Stakes on August 4).
