Darley Buys 50% Of Unbeaten 2YO & Future Sire New Approach

Wednesday, 5th September 2007

Also in Ireland, Sheikh Mohammed's "policy of seriously stocking up on stallions continued unabated with the news his Darley Stud has bought a 50% stake in unbeaten juvenile New Approach" (Galileo-Park Express, by Ahonoora) reported racingpost.co.uk. The colt (who 10 days ago scored a front-running 3-lengths victory in Ireland's Gr2 Futurity Stakes over 7 furlongs at The Curragh) "will continue to be trained in Ireland by Jim Bolger (whose wife Jackie retains a half-share). In July New Approach also won Ireland's Gr3 Tyros Stakes (7 furlongs) at Leopardstown & overall boasts has 3 wins from 3 starts. New Approach was a €430,000 euros (A$688,000) yearling at the 2006 Goffs Million Sale; his Gr1-winning dam Park Express has also produced Gr3-winner Dazzling Park & Japanese stakes-winning former Glenlogan Park shuttler Shinko Forest. Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock advisor John Ferguson commented: "We are delighted to have purchased a half-share in New Approach; he is one of the outstanding 2YOs of 2007, who has the scope & quality to go on to be a top prospect for the Classics next year. He was a very good looking yearling & he has a great pedigree, so we made note of him quite a while ago."
