Wednesday, 5th September 2007

Meanwhile Racing Victoria chief steward Des Glesson announced strict bio-security protocols for interstate jockeys to ride in Victoria during the equine influenza crisis. Gleeson explained: "In the case of Sydney jockeys, there has to be at least 7 clear days between when they last went to Randwick & wish to ride in Victoria. With all interstate riders, there must be at least 2 clear days from when they have last ridden any trackwork. In addition, all riders coming from interstate to ride in Victoria must purchase new gear to use." Gleeson confirmed Sydney jockeys Darren Beadman & Hugh Bowman, plus Queensland riders Stathi Katsidis & Brad Pengelly, are expected at Flemington in Melbourne on Saturday.
