Echo Of Light Smashes York Track Record

On the UK track overnight, Godolphin's 5YO entire Echo Of Light (Dubai Millennium-Spirit Of Tara, by Sadler's Wells) broke the track record by over 2sec with a front-running 2.5-lengths victory in the £50,000 (A$120,000) Gr3 Strensall Stakes (9 furlongs) on the Knavesmire at York. Echo Of Light (ridden by Frankie Dettori for trainer Saeed Bin Suroor) won this race for the 2nd successive year in defeating 3YO colt Halicarnassus (Cape Cross-Launch Time, by Relaunch) & fellow 5YO entire Kandidate (Kabool-Valleyrose, by Royal Academy). Last month Echo Of Light won France's Gr3 Prix Gontaut-Biron at Deauville & overall now has 7 wins from 14 starts he was a €1.2 million (A$1.92m) purchase by John Ferguson on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed at the 2003 Goffs Orby yearling sale.
