Fashions Afield Half-Sister Wins Debut
A half-sister to recently retired former Australian Champion juvenile & multiple Gr1-winning 5YO mare Fashions Afield (Redoute's Choice-Attire, by Wild Again) scored on debut over 1200m at Balaklava yesterday for trainer David Hayes. The 3YO filly Kivazi (Rubiton-Attire, by Wild Again) was a $255,000 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne. Fashions Afield (a $230,000 yearling at the 2004 Magic Millions January Gold Coast Sale) was retired after finishing 3rd in last month's Gr2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney; overall she recorded 6 wins (including 2005's Gr1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes over 1400m, Gr1 AJC Flight Stakes over 1600m & Gr2 Reisling Stakes over 1200m, plus 2006's Listed Gold Coast Guineas over 1200m) & 9 placings (including both June's Gr1 Winter Stakes over 1400m & February's Gr2 Expressway Stakes over 1200m, plus 2006's Gr2 Queensland Guineas over 1600m & Listed Magic Millions 3YO Trophy over 1400m, as well as 2005's Gr1 Golden Slipper over 1200m, Gr2 Tea Rose Stakes over 1500m & Gr3 Silver Shadow Stakes over 1200m) from 22 starts for $1,974,110 earnings.
