Murrihy Warns NSW Still Treading On Eggshells

Thursday, 6th September 2007

Meanwhile Racing NSW chief steward Ray Murrihy warned the NSW industry is "still treading on eggshells" even after the negative results from Albury, plus for horses from the stables of John Hawkes at Warwick Farm, Tim Martin & Gerald Ryan at Rosehill, as well as tests from Dubbo. Murrihy told Radio Sport 927 equine influenza was "raging like a bushfire through Randwick & Hawkesbury" & noted: "If we can get through this meeting on Saturday (the closed meeting at Warwick Farm) then the Department Of Primary Industries will look at our protocols & look at racing at Newcastle next Wednesday. Then there would be a continuing process to look at other areas such as the Riverina & NSW Northern Coast. We hope the strategies we have in place will confine the virus. But we will not be able to breathe easy for a couple of weeks."
