On the track in South Australia yesterday, favoured 5YO gelding Road Worker (Gallo Di Ferro-Logic In Motion, by Mikado) gained the judge's verdict in a 3-way photo-finish to the $77,500 Listed Balaklava Cup (1600m) for 4YOs & up. Road Worker (ridden by Adrian Patterson for trainer Roslyn Day) scored by a nose from 6YO entire Keltah (Keltrice-Tivoli Queen, by Swooping) with a further long-neck to 7YO gelding Merlot Now (Akhadan-Babelle, by Francis Bacon). Road Worker took his record to 6 wins (also including 2006's Listed Smith Challenge Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville) & 13 placings (including 2006's Listed Schweppes Tonic Mile over 1600m at Morphettville) from 25 starts for $249,870 earnings.
